The environmental benefits of green roofs are numerous, from providing extra insulation to reducing stormwater run-off, filtering pollutants and creating a natural wildlife habitat. We love them. And they’re no barrier to including rooflights either; after all, you’ll need access for roof maintenance.

It’s the moisture retention within a green roof that makes specifiers wary of including rooflights into green roof design. Just as with any terrace roof featuring raised flooring, we solve this problem by supplying and fitting additional weatherproofing to the external face of the rooflight frame in the form of an EPDM membrane. This allows green roof materials to come level with the glass without any need to worry about water ingress or damp being trapped against the unit.
