Safety Critical Rooflights

Whether your project is your own home, a commercial building or your clients home, fire safety is a precaution that is becoming more and more apparent in building regulations. Glazing Vision have designed two rooflights that are fully compliant with modern regulations, our x-Vent Smoke Ventilation Rooflight and the Flushglaze Fire Rated Rooflight.

Glazing Vision manufacture all of their glass rooflights in house, two of which are certified and rigorously tested as fire safety products.

The fire rated Flushglaze unit is a fixed glass rooflight, designed to provide 30 minutes insulation and 30 minutes integrity should fire break out in a building. The rooflight uses special fire rated glues and silicone to maintain the integrity of the glass rooflight in the event of heat and fire. The Glazing Vision xVent is a UKCA certified Automatic Opening Vent (AOV) which is designed to be triggered during the event of a fire to allow smoke to vent out of the building. A smoke vent has to open to 140 degrees to allow smoke to exhaust out of the building. If it is a windy day the wind will blow the smoke away, but only if at 140 degrees. This glass rooflight is often used in communal stair cases and commercial buildings. The unique aspect of the X-Vent is that it can be used for day to day use for natural ventilation. The X-Vent is the most prestigious smoke vent on the market.

Nobody wants to think about the possibility of fire, but it’s a risk in any building, and smoke inhalation is one of the most common reasons that prevents occupants being able to exit the building safely.
