Job title: Machine Operative

Job type: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: £9.50-£10.25 per hour

The role:

Working under the guidance of the Production Supervisor with support from the rest of the Production team where necessary, you will be required to complete the machining operation and tasks against the time frame provided as part of the weekly ‘Factory load’ schedules issued by the Production Supervisor

All aspects of SP and OR machining will be included in the role and the successful candidate will receive suitable training to ensure that they are able to complete their tasks in an efficient manner while adhering to our Health & Safety requirements

The Machine shop Operative will be required to provide updates to the Glazing Vision data base as well as maintain documentation, recording the status of the weekly machining activities

Long term, additional training will be provided to enable the individual to develop their skill base to include all existing machinery in the OR production area, inclusive of the new CNC machines being presently sourced and purchased

Duties:

  • Liaise with OR/SP supervision
  • Liaise with other internal departments and Production staff
  • Monitor and carry out production activities to ensure that schedules are met on a daily basis
  • Update supervision with production data where problems occur
  • Highlight shortfall in materials and machine maintenance issues
  • Ensure all documentation is completed and reports are provided to the supervision

  • Capable of dealing with several different task and people at once
  • Capable of working under pressure when required

Skills required:

  • Engineering biased individual, who is willing to gain additional training to enable them to operate all our machinery, including double and single head saws, notcher etc
  • Ability to read engineering drawings
  • Understand dead lines and schedules
  • Produce cutting lists
  • Computer literate but willing to gain further computer skills where necessary

Education:

  • GCSE or equivalent (preferred)

Experience:

  • Machine Operators: 1 year (preferred)
